Challenge:


Split the weekly Demand Planning forecast into daily buckets to drive the short term supply planning in SNP, PPDS and R/3

Avoid including daily buckets in the main planning area to control the size of planning area and performance

Develop a more sophisticated solution than straight forward splitting based on number of days.

Achieve a daily profile as per the buying behaviour of consumer within the scope of the vanilla implementation.
 


Solution:


A daily profiling planning area was developed at product location level with only future daily buckets for 5 weeks.

Consensus forecast was split based on profile key figure, which used a daily demand profile from BW.
Hence without bringing in demand to APO in daily buckets, a daily forecast for first 5 weeks was generated.

Benefits:

Daily profile as per the buying behaviour of consumer was achieved within the scope of the vanilla implementation.

This led to an improved shipment plan leading to better customer service level i.e. DIFOT.

System performance was unaffected.
